Queena, a Labrador/pit bull mix, ended up with burns all over her body as she tried to save her owner in a burning house in El Paso, Texas.
83-year-old Alfonso Saldivar was trapped inside the house, and firefighters said that Queena was trying to get inside to rescue Saldivar.
The six-year-old dog was attempting to bite the doors to get inside. Unfortunately, Saldivar perished in the fire.
The veterinarian said, “[Queena] had tar on her feet that burned her feet, tar had dripped on her face that had dripped off the roof. She has third degree burns in her mouth, on her face and on her footpads, and second degree burns on her nose, and around her face and on her ears.”
Queena has been quietly recovering from her injuries, but the vet thinks the loss of her owner has made Queena depressed.
Saldivar’s family said that Saldivar and Queena were inseparable and the best of friends. She had her own couch that was right next to Saldivar’s bed.
